Long Distance Dedications

long distance dedication

Recently, my wife and I have been listening to Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 re-broadcasts on XM radio channel 7 on Saturday afternoons while we have lunch.  It is the 70’s channel so all of the shows are from the 1970’s.  It occurred to me that I could have some fun and offer long distance dedications of my own.  Here is my list using songs from the 1970’s.

To Politicians – Honesty by Billy Joel

To unreliable Weather forecasters – Right place, wrong time by Dr. John

To Baseball Umpires – Blinded by the light by Bruce Springsteen, made popular by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band

To Dominos Pizza – Sedan Delivery by Neil Young

To Justin Bieber – Go Away Little Girl by Donnie Osmond in 1971 originally written and released in 1962

To the Economy of Old – Wish you were here by Pink Floyd

To the next MLB pitcher to throw a no-hitter – The No No Song by Ringo Starr

To Politicians part two – Jive Talkin’ – The Bee Gees

To Casey Kasem – Thank you for being a friend by Andrew Gold (this was played on Casey’s final American top 40 show)

And finally to my wife…

Ain’t no sunshine by Bill Withers

This is a pretty good live version of this song.  Pay attention to the drummer.  He appears to have plenty of sunshine – perhaps his disposition was aided in some way.

Have a great week and as Casey always said; “Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars.”
